Forest, Folk songs & Swedish Fika

Experience forest walks, baking & stillness with a local guide

Winter in Gammelstad Church Town

This winter, I’m welcoming guests to a truly unique place — Gammelstad Church Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site just outside Luleå.

Rest, bake and meet in the northern quiet

In one of the oldest houses in Gammelstad Church Town, I welcome guests to small-scale experiences shaped by sound, scent, warmth and presence.

You can settle into Sound Rest & Stillness — a guided deep-rest journey with voice and sound, offered one-to-one and in small groups, indoors or outdoors in nature. Inspired by yoga nidra, without performance or effort — simply rest and listening.

You can also join a cinnamon bun workshop, where we shape and bake buns from prepared dough and share fresh fika — sometimes with a song.

If you prefer a simple visit, you’re welcome to book a fika with a local — coffee, homemade baking, conversation and stories of everyday life in the North. Hand-knitted socks and mittens are available in the house.

From spring onward, more outdoor experiences will open, along with traditional bakehouse baking at the unique Ralph Lundsten farm in Ersnäs.

Sounds & Stories from the North

Soulful moments in Luleå, Swedish Lapland – where nature, music, and traditions meet.
Join forest walks, sound journeys, and Swedish fika by the fire.

Forest & Stillness

Inspired by Swedish traditions, forest bathing, and the quiet rest of a hammock, these small-scale forest experiences invite you to awaken your senses, gather by the fire, and rest in sound and story.

Do like the locals – make a fire, grill a sausage or toast a sandwich, sip hot chocolate or boiled coffee, and let the sounds and colors of the forest bring you closer to nature – and to yourself.

Choose what suits you best:
A family-friendly forest walk with stories and playful nature moments,
or a still, restorative pause beneath the whispering trees.

Fika & Folk songs

From cinnamon bun workshops to seven kinds of cookies and fika with a local – this is fika the way it’s meant to be: warm, personal, and full of flavor.

Rooted in Swedish traditions and local hospitality, each gathering invites you to bake, share stories, and enjoy the scent of something fresh from the oven.

From delicate cookies to soft flatbread baked in a traditional wood-fired oven, the baking is as much about presence and process as it is about taste.

Choose between hands-on baking, cozy fika with a local, or a guided walk followed by traditional Swedish fika.

Sound Rest & Stillness

One-to-one or small group

Sound Rest & Stillness is a guided deep-rest experience in a calm setting, supported by voice, sound and silence.

We begin with gentle settling into the body, then rest lying down, fully clothed. The practice is inspired by yoga nidra, with no poses and no performance — nothing to achieve, only to receive.

In individual sessions, singing bowls are placed on and around the body. Sound and vibration unfold slowly, sometimes with soft vocal tones. Each session is adapted to your needs that day.

After the rest, you’re welcome to sit a while with a warm or cold drink and a light snack.

Language: Swedish or English

Duration: approx. 1–2 hours

Feb–March: Gammelstad Church Town

The person behind

NORRKLANG

My name is Anna Sellén.
I’m a singer, educator, and the founder of Norrklang.
My roots run deep in the north of Sweden – in its stories, songs, traditions, and the surrounding forest.

Since childhood I have also loved baking. Some of my warmest memories are tied to the smell of my mother’s and my aunts’ kitchens, and the joy of sharing cookies with family and friends. Over the years, I’ve chosen a few of the best and most beloved recipes – and now I invite you to bake them together with me.

But the forest hasn’t always felt like home.
It took time to understand what it had to offer me. A slow unlearning – after years of stress – when I realized that change wouldn’t come unless I lived differently.

That’s how Norrklang came to life.
An invitation to reclaim something many of us have lost:

The chance to slow down.
To breathe more deeply.
To return to a more natural rhythm – something sustainable beyond productivity.

I believe rest is not something we must earn. We don’t need to prove our worth to deserve a pause. Often, restlessness is simply the body’s call for rest.

Through Norrklang, I create experiences where nature, voice, story, tradition – and baking – meet.

A space to soften, to let go,

and to share meaningful moments together.

The forest will do its work.
I’m just here to open up the path.
